To help keep the community engaged and sane during this period of increased social distancing, we’ve decided to do more than just producing additional content (watch for upcoming announcements about streams and some other cool stuff). We’re also announcing something fun you can participate in – an audio scavenger hunt!
Scavenger Hunt Overview
Participation is easy – if part of the way you’re killing time and avoiding boredom while you’re staying away from others includes listening to old episodes of Mythos Busters, listen for the sound bites listed below. Let us know which ones you find (see full rules below) and you could even win some Mythos Busters swag!
Here are the sound bites to target:
- Sean: says “[band name] was the name of my [musical genre] band in high school.”
- Ian: mentions Lord of the Rings
- Scott: references Canada or something Canadian
- Nick: discusses community theater
- Sean, Ian, Scott, OR Nick: mentions Tom (meaning previous host Tom, not a nickname for Tommy Muldoon) after episode 20.
Note: These sound bites all appear in more than one place, and all instances of them count (we’re not looking for one specific answer)!
Scavenger Hunt Rules
Scavenger hunt runs from 5 p.m. CST on March 14, 2020, until 11:59 p.m. CST on April 30, 2020.
To enter the scavenger hunt, send an email with the versions of the sound bites that you found (noting the episode number and time stamp where each answer you found appears) to email@example.com.
Every correctly identified sound bite provides you with one entry into a drawing for swag. You do NOT need to find all of the answers/sound bites, but if you DO find all 5 of them, you’ll be given 5 bonus entries into the drawing.
At the end of the scavenger hunt, we’ll randomly select 5 entries to win swag. Only one entry per person can win, but the more entries you have the greater the chance you can win Mythos Busters items such as:
- Mythos Busters coffee mugs
- Mythos Busters t-shirt
- Mythos Busters baseball cap
No sharing answers with your fellow scavenger hunters. We want this to be a fun activity that gives people something to do during their self-imposed or mandatory quarantines, so no giving away possible answers to others.
Happy hunting, and stay safe out there!
